New research published in “Microbial Ecology” is showing how spending time outdoors is vital for your skin health.
After a “disturbance” on the skin, people who spent time outside found their skin microbiome to be “enriched”.
The biodiversity of their skin microbiome increased far more than that of the people who stayed indoors.
The paper shows that “the outdoors provide resilience to skin communities”.
Not only this but those participants who spent time in the forest, the highest biodiversity area, recovered the fastest.
Therefore, spending time outdoors may help people with skin problems, for example, sufferers of psoriasis.
This new research is showing how it could be vital for your health to spend more time outdoors, especially in forest like areas.
Are you spending enough time outside?
