Damaged Skin May Cause Food Allergies

New research suggests our skin could be far more important for our health than we realise.

The new study by Yale School of Medicine has suggested that damaged skin can “trigger” food allergies.

"...introducing new food proteins directly into the gut..."

"...at the time of skin damage induced new food allergies..."

Published in Science Immunology, the authors believe that food allergies might be due to an immune reaction in the skin.

“Treating skin disease is more than just treating what you see, but also the inflammation within and the potential for other systemic diseases.”

Could the skin be the “overlooked” major factor in the chronic disease epidemic?

Our world-leading research suggested so in 2023.
