To explain why there is biodiversity loss on the human microbiome, many factors have been proposed.
In our new peer-reviewed, published research, we investigated whether a major factor could be the use of everyday cosmetics.
This is because they are applied directly to the body, and contain a large amount of synthetic chemicals.
As an example, there are ingredients used in USA cosmetics that have been banned in the EU for causing severe allergic reactions.
Damaged skin is now thought to be a major contributor, not just to chronic skin problems, but to many whole body diseases too.
Therefore, should we be completely changing what we put on our skin?
