Teenage girls at large risk from hormone disrupting chemicals in skincare

Just 3 days of removing the use of certain chemicals in daily cosmetics caused a huge reduction in the body

Stopping the use of endocrine disrupting chemicals in everyday cosmetics has huge impacts in less than a week.

A study on teenage girls and their use of everyday cosmetics looked at removing particular hormone disrupting chemicals from skincare routines.

The main ingredients the study focused on were pthalates, parabens, oxybenzone and triclosan.

Using products without these in them for just 3 days saw a significant decrease in these chemicals within the body.

"Teen girls may be at particular risk since it’s a time of rapid reproductive development."

Considering how widespread the use of these synthetic chemicals is, it’s very worrying to see that the chemicals are in our bodies at all.

The skin is a vital part of our health

Thanks to papers like this, the view that our skin is separate from our overall health is now changing, to be the complete opposite.

Your skin is vital for not just your skin health, but your whole body health too.

These chemicals are everywhere in cosmetics and teenage girls in particular, are at a huge risk.

Removing all chemicals from your cosmetics routine is even more vital than you might realise.
