Do dishwashers damage the gut?

Residue from dishwashers can harm the protective layer in the gut and lead to chronic disease

The protective layer in your gut can be damaged by the residue from rinse agents in dishwashers.

Researchers from the Swiss Institute of Allergy and Asthma say this could lead to “the development of chronic diseases”.

A whole host of different conditions are linked with this layer being damaged. This includes food allergies, gastritis, diabetes, obesity and many more.

“The effect that we found could mark the beginning of the destruction of the gut’s epithelial layer and trigger the onset of many chronic diseases.”

They highlight that “numerous studies have shown, many additives and chemicals that we encounter in everyday life can damage these layers.“

Similar protective layers are also present on the skin and in the lungs.

As a result, they deem this a public safety issue, stating “It is important to inform the public about this risk”.

“We assume that defective epithelial barriers play a role in triggering the onset of two billion chronic illnesses”

Could this signal that the chemicals we are using everyday are leading to the chronic disease epidemic?
