Eczema Increases Risk of Gut Problems

New research shows how children with eczema are more likely to get Inflammatory Bowel Disease

A new study has shown an association between childhood eczema and increased risk of developing IBD.

Although this association was not seen significantly overall, the authors say that their findings indicate shared origins of the two diseases.

"...children with atopic dermatitis specifically to be at a modestly increased risk of developing IBD."

The authors say that further research on the underlying mechanisms is needed.

But why does this study matter? Well, this is more yet more evidence showing how the skin affects the gut, and is crucial for whole body health.

Therefore, we should protect our skin microbiome with as much intensity as our gut.
