French Cheese at Risk of Extinction due to Microbial Diversity Loss

This crisis could spell the end of some of our favourite cheeses

As Christmas nears, could this be our last eating anything other than cheddar cheese?

According to a statement from France’s National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS):

"...Camembert, brie and blue cheese are at risk of disappearing due to a collapse of microbial diversity..."

This mirrors the “catastrophic biodiversity loss” happening in our environment, and on our bodies.

These could all be linked and have consequences that affect us in ways we never realised.
